EV chargers are not all the same. There are a few options available, and some technology to understand.
When it comes to picking the right charger for your vehicle, there are a few features to consider:
Charging Speed
Standard home chargers typically offer a 7kW charging capacity which is quick enough for overnight charging.
Tethered or Untethered
A tethered charger has a permanently attached cable and connector that is stored inside the unit. This is convenient but potentially limits flexibility if different EVs with different connectors are used. Untethered units just have a socket, allowing various charging connectors to be plugged in. Ideal for greater compatibility with different electric cars.
Compatibility
Chargers must be compatible with your vehicle; do you need a Type 1 or Type 2 charger? Some car brands, such as Tesla, might need an adapter.

Some chargers come with additional functionalities like smart charging, which could help manage electricity tariffs efficiently.
